Take a guided photo tour in St Petersburg

This tour is especially designed for photography enthusiasts. It is a perfect opportunity to create your photo story in one of the world’s most beautiful cities under the guidance of a professional St. Petersburg photographer.

We will go around famous monuments and places in the city center, looking for original view points, playing with the light of the ever-changing summer sky of St. Petersburg. The tour takes 4 hours.  It can be booked as a separate tour or as an extension of a standard city tour.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, this tour provides something for all skill levels. At the end the tour you will have fantastic photos and memories to take back home.

  1. *Shared Tour Option: If you wish to share ideas with other photographers and save on tour price, ask for a shared tour. If there are other participants willing to share the same route on the same date, you can join them and you all will get the tour price reduction accordingly.

  1. 1.Why should I take this tour?
    St. Petersburg Photo Tour is an excellent opportunity to improve the skills for beginners as well as for experienced photographers.  Our St. Petersburg photographer will introduce you to the most photogenic sites of the city at the right times along with professional photography advice and instruction. You will be given a vehicle to transport you around and an English-speaking guide to give you the background information about the city and its people.

  2. 2.What about the photographer who will lead the tour?
    Elena Gamza is one of two professional photographers known as creative alliance EGRA.  She has been living in St. Petersburg for a long time and likes the city, its stories, colors and lights. Elena likes to find unusual details that make a photo special and she knows a number of places where to look for them. You can see some of Elena’s works here.  As a specialist in photographing cityscapes, Elena will share her knowledge and techniques to help you get just the right shots and return home with great memories and photos.

  3. 3.When do photo tours start?
    There are no fixed starting times. Usually the starting time depends on the time of sunrise/sunset and the time you are ready to take a tour. Early morning ands dusk is preferable for architectural photography whereas street photography sessions can take place any time. Please note that due to St. Petersburg’s northern location we have White Nights in June, when it is dark at night only for about 2 hours.

  4. 4.What equipment do I need?
    You will need your camera and a pair of comfortable shoes. If you have several lenses, filters bring them along as well as any other essentials you like to use. A lightweight tripod is recommended for evening tours. It is also good to have extra batteries and flash cards.

  5. 5.How many people do you take on the tour?
    The maximum number of participants is 6.

  6. 6.I am travelling with a companion who is not a photographer. Can he/she come along?
    It is OK to bring your travel companion. The tour price for 1-2 pax is USD 480, it allows 2 persons to be on a tour (the second one need not be a photographer).  For more than two people an additional charge applies for every non-photographer in a group (they pay only for transport and guide).

  7. 7.What if it rains?
    Great photos are possible to take in all kinds of weather. Photo tours are not cancelled due to rain but we may consider alternative itineraries and subjects if necessary.

  8. 8.What is included/not included in the tour price?
    The price for the photo tour covers the time and expertise of the photographer, vehicle and guide’s service. Meals and snacks are not included. Some customized tours might require entrance fees, and these will be added to the final tour price. For cruise passengers visa-fee regime arrangement is provided for extra charge.

  9. 9. How to book the tour?
    You can use our contact form to book the tour. Please send us your preferred tour dates, number of participants (photographers and travel companions). If you would like to share a tour please let us know as well. Once we confirm tour availability, we send you a confirmation with all the information including the final tour price, payment terms and the tour details.

  10. 10. What are the payment terms?
    You can pay for your tour on the spot.  We accept cash (USD, EUR and RUB) and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard).
    Please note that Russian banks charge 10% commission for exchanging damaged foreign currency bills. If you would like to pay in cash, please make sure you bring USD or EUR bills in mint condition: without any stamps, marks or damages. You can pay in Russian Rubles, bills condition is not an issue in this case.  Payment with credit card is done on the first day of your tour. The total cost of the tour will be charged from your credit card in Russian Rubles according to current exchange rate of The Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

  11. 11. What if I need to cancel the tour?
    Please note cancellations should be made in written form. Your booking can be cancelled without a fee if done no less than 14 days prior to your arrival in St Petersburg. For cancellations made less than 14 days prior to arrival we reserve the right to charge a fee equal to 25 % of the total tour cost. For cancellations made less than 7 days prior to arrival and no-shows we reserve the right to charge a fee equal to 50 % of the total tour cost.

  12. 12. What is a shared tour?
    A shared tour option suites those who wish to share ideas with other photographers and save on tour price. A shared tour allows you to join other participants, who take their tour on the same date and want to share it as well (all in all the maximum number of people in the group is 6). A shared tour only takes place when separate participants are interested in the same date and do not mind to share their tours.
